
MOAPA, Nev. -- Las Vegas police are investigating the accidental shooting of the son of a Metro police officer in Moapa, Nevada.
Investigators say the child was put to bed Saturday night in his parent's bedroom. The child got up and found a gun on a nearby nightstand. The weapon was fired once and struck the boy in his arm and abdomen.
The boy was transported to University Medical Center in critical condition.
Metro's Abuse and Neglect Detail is investigating and will submit the results of their investigation to the District Attorney for possible criminal charges.
Police say their Internal Affairs Division may also investigate the shooting.
Shortly before 9 p.m. on Tuesday, Metro received a call stating someone had been killed at a house in the 2400 block of Walnut. More>>
