
Las Vegas had the nation's highest foreclosure rate among metropolitan areas for the first six months of 2010.
RealtyTrac reports 53,525 Las Vegas properties were in some stage of foreclosure since January. That is a rate of one in every 15 households and 6.6% of all Las Vegas homes.
Despite leading the nation, Las Vegas' foreclosure rate dropped 14.7% from the last six months of 2009 and fell 8.8% from the first six months of 2009.
Cape Coral-Fort Myers, Florida had the nation's second highest foreclosure rate. Three California cities (Modesto, Merced and Riverside-San Bernardino) rounded out the top five.
The top 20 cities for foreclosures were located in four states: Florida, Nevada, California and Arizona. Nine of those cities were located in Florida.
