CityCenter Sending Out Job Offers

CityCenter Sending Out Job Offers

Updated:

LAS VEGAS, Nv -- The economic boost Las Vegas leaders have hoped for has finally arrived. The first job offers from CityCenter for anyone non-MGM Mirage employees have been sent out.

All day there were people coming into the CityCenter Employment Center at Industrial near Spring Mountain relieved and elated to have a job offer. One-third of the jobs will go to current MGM Mirage employees, but the bulk will be totally new hires.

In the next two weeks, 10,000 job offers will be extended.

Adrienne Jubenville will be moving from the Venetian to CityCenter when it opens in December. "We have been doing layoffs every quarter and they have been trying really hard not too and keep the staff employed, so they cut hours," she said.

She could not be more relieved. "Each quarter comes up and everybody gets a little nervous and we just wait and wait," she said.

CityCenter Vice President of Human Resources Michael Peltyn could feel the positive energy when he came to work. "There are a lot of emotional people -- in a good way. A job at CityCenter may mean they can make their mortgage payment," he said.

Mollie Ehrman knows jobs are tough to come by in Springfield, Ohio. She currently works two jobs there. But she's been hired as a receptionist at the salon at Aria, hoping it will eventually launch a career in management. "When I saw the 702 number, I said, ‘This is it!' I just knew," she said.

Ehrman went out her car to listen to her voicemail last Wednesday. She screamed. "I was like, ‘Oh my god! Oh my God! Oh my God!' I called my mom at 11 o'clock at night," she said.

Over and over there was a constant theme - lucky, excited, nervous.

The good job news won out on this day. Eighty-percent of the new hires will come from Nevada, the rest from across the nation and a few from Canada, Europe, and Singapore.

The first paychecks will be cashed at the end of November.

10,000 offers will come from CityCenter. Another 2,000 will come from Mandarin Oriental and Crystals.
