FROM PAULA FRANCIS: DEALING WITH DIABETES
People dealing with diabetes now have a high-tech way to take your much- needed medication at the correct time... Or remember to check your blood glucose.
A pharmacy in San Antonio, Texas has launched a new program called "My Dose Alert".
It sends the patients a text, phone call or email reminding them to take their medication or test their blood.
The service could make a huge difference, especially to new diabetic patients who need a reminder to get in the habit of checking their blood sugar levels.
Robyn Thompson knows first hand how difficult it can be. She says, "working and being a busy mom, it's really hard to remember, you know, in the midst of everything to take my medication and if I took it or not. I can look at my phone and if I've deleted the text, I know I took it. And if I haven't, I know I still need to take it. It helps me stay on track."
