Binion's Casino in Downtown Las Vegas Closes Valet

LAS VEGAS (AP) -- An iconic downtown Las Vegas casino that closed its hotel rooms and coffee shop one year ago is cutting more costs by closing its valet.

A spokeswoman for the 59-year-old casino says about 10 employees were affected in closing the valet.

The company also made changes to their dining room. Employees will also no longer get meals and will instead be paid for one meal each shift. Another 10 employees will be affected by this move.

Lisa Robinson of hotel owner TLC Casino Enterprises says the moves won't affect dealers, cashiers or bartenders.

Binion's hosted the World Series of Poker for 34 years but has faced pressure to keep customers in a down economy for tourism and gambling. About 100 employees were laid off when the hotel closed its 365 rooms last year. The casino also closed its keno operations.
