LAS VEGAS -- Once-United State Senate and House hopeful Sharron Angle is hitting the press circuit this week as an author, promoting her new book Right Angle. In it, she explains her loss to Senator Harry Reid and makes intriguing accusations about fraud and corruption.
Calling President Barack Obama a "pretty face" on the Today Show and calling out Nevada Democrats and Republicans, Angle is putting herself in the spotlight just weeks after backing out of the race for former-Congressman Dean Heller's seat.
Angle lost the Senate race to Reid by six points, but takes time in the book to raise questions about voting in Clark County.
She mentions the senator's name 115 times throughout the book, blasting his policies, raising the same accusations in the campaign about his wealth and his much-criticized Ritz-Carlton apartment.
Much of the book is about her personal beliefs and struggles, including her deep commitment to faith and God and also the physical problems from surgeries she had when she was younger. But it's the insider political commentary that has been attracting all the attention.
She extensively quotes bloggers with no proof about voting fraud and undocumented immigrants at the polls.
Also, she explained her controversial comments about Second Amendment remedies and the Jefferson quote about "refreshing the tree of liberty with the blood of tyrants." She says, "I am obviously using Jefferson's words figuratively here. I am not, on any level, advocating violence."
She doesn't hold back against Republicans either, saying of presidential contender John McCain, Republicans "failed to nominate a candidate who could articulate our principles of freedom and security."
She tells a powerful unnamed lobbyist she would reject his donation because "casino money is the root of corruption in the legislature."
She attacks her own campaign staffers, calling them "exhausted, disappointed and sometimes complaining." And now that she lost, they are "selling the 'real' story for financial enrichment and celebrity."
But the most aggressive parts come at the end of the book, alleging a whistle blower said there was "collusion and the scheme that was in place to harass and intimidate low-level casino workers" by properties around town.
Senator Reid's press office sent a statement, though, saying the book is "nothing more than sour grapes and baseless allegations from someone who spent last year running from reporters, only to start running to them this year in an effort to make a buck. Sad, really."
As far as running to 8 News NOW, attempts to reach Angle through her recent press contacts went unanswered. Angle will be donating proceeds from the book to her new political action committee.
