LAS VEGAS - Sandra Braziel feels safe when she travels to Las Vegas.
"I feel comfortable, because I've been here so many times, and I've never had any problems," she said.
The tourist from Fort Worth, Texas was surprised to learn, however, that three different people met bloodshed in three separate fights along the Strip in recent weeks.
On June 25, a man was stabbed to death during a fight on the pedestrian walkway between MGM Grand and New York-New York.
This week, another man was stabbed on the pedestrian walkway between Planet Hollywood and Cosmopolitan.
Also this week, a Utah tourist died after getting punched in the head at O'Sheas Casino.
"I think more cops would be good," said Brazilian tourist Renan Souza.
Others have noticed a beefed-up police presence. "I've seen police officers standing on corners, kinda' blocking the intersections, kinda' guarding traffic, and security guards in the casinos just walking around," tourist Sandraesha West said.
Will Upchurch works on the Strip.
"It's a shame what happened, but we need to be safe out here, especially as locals and as tourists," he said. "It's one of those things where you're going to catch crime everywhere. It's a tourist town, so it's a lot of people coming from all over - different personalities."
This sudden outbreak of violence on the Strip is rare. That's why Braziel vows not to be scared. "(You) just have to be careful and check your surroundings, be aware of your surroundings. Anything can happen anywhere," she said.
Metro Police regularly meets with Strip resorts to discuss security concerns or problem areas. All resorts also contain hundreds of surveillance cameras - the eyes in the sky - which help identify troublemakers or catch wanted suspects.
