First-ever treatment for Bark Scorpion Sting

First-ever treatment for Bark Scorpion Sting

Posted: Updated:

We sometimes see bark scorpions here in Las Vegas. They come in on plants, mostly imported from Arizona. They can be scary. Today, though, the Food and Drug Administration approved Ana-scorp, the very first treatment specifically for a bite from a bark scorpion.

Severe stings occur most frequently in infants and children.. But untreated cases can be fatal.

Anascorp received priority review from the FDA because it's considered a rare-use or "orphan" drug.
