LAS VEGAS -- Developers of a $500 million entertainment district that would feature the world's tallest Ferris wheel are getting the green light to break ground on the Las Vegas Strip.
Clark County commissioners on Wednesday approved the land use and design for Caesars Entertainment's "Project Linq." Plans call for restaurants, dining and entertainment that runs between the Imperial Palace and Flamingo casinos.
Developers are calling the proposed 550-foot Ferris wheel an "observation wheel." They say it will feature 32 enclosed cabins that can hold up to 30 people each.
Caesars officials say construction for the 326,000-square-foot project will take 18 months and create 3,000 construction jobs.
Project Linq should be complete in 2013 and is expected to create 1,500 permanent jobs.
