LAS VEGAS - Couples from all over the world get married in Las Vegas, but this Friday, the wedding bells will ring repeatedly.
Before they wed, however, love birds like Kelley Stillman and her fiancé Bryan Hamrick must first visit Clark County's Marriage License Bureau to get their license. The date 11/11/11 is a special date for the couple.
"That's my birthday and his birthday is the 12th," said Stillman. "He won't forget the date. If it's our birthdays, he can't forget it. So, I'm trying to save the marriage ahead of time."
Samantha Stokes and Jonathan Barron are also getting hitched on the magical day.
"11/11, with about 35,000 other people," Stokes said. "It was a good time. It was a good date," Barron added.
They came from Maryland to wed in lucky Las Vegas on a lucky day. "We talked about 10/10/10 or 12/12/12, and 11/11 seemed to be the right timing for us," Stokes said.
Clark County Clerk Diana Alba says extra staff will be on duty to help the engaged become newlyweds.
"We have actually been absolutely packed," she said. "We've been looking forward to 11/11/11. All year, we knew it would be a very busy day. Because not only is it a lucky day, it's also a federal holiday and a three-day weekend for a lot of people."
Las Vegas has been a bridal bonanza when numbers line up in the calendar. More than 4,000 couples married on 7-7-7 and more than 3,000 couples tied the knot on 10-10-10. A normal day involves about 1,000 applications.
The county clerk expects long lines Thursday. County officials encourage anyone heading to the County Clerk's office to fill out their information online first.
