LAS VEGAS - A federal judge Monday slapped billionaire casino owner Sheldon Adelson with sanctions.

Adelson is being sued by former members of his security team. They allege he worked them long hours but did not pay overtime.

The attorney for the security team, Don Campbell, has been trying for months to depose Adelson, owner of Las Vegas Sands Corporation - the parent company of the Venetian and other gaming properties.

At the most recent scheduled deposition in October, Adelson and his attorney objected to every question asked and refused to provide answers. The deposition was terminated after about ten minutes.

Monday, a federal magistrate came down hard on Adelson and his lawyer - accusing them of improperly impeding the case. The judge ordered Adelson to be sanctioned and that he pay all costs associated with the earlier proceedings, including attorneys fees for Campbell.

The judge also ordered Adelson to submit to a full deposition within the next three weeks.
