LAS VEGAS -- Three Republican primary contests and three different winners. In less than two weeks, Nevadans will weigh in during their own GOP caucus.
Candidates Mitt Romney and Ron Paul's advertisements have hit the local airwaves and Newt Gingrich's campaign has received a huge boost from local billionaire Sheldon Adelson. Gingrich received another $5 million Monday.
The battle for Nevada is heating up. Romney's camp and Paul's campaign are hoping their ads will have an impact on Nevadans.
Las Vegas billionaire Sheldon Adelson has gained national attention for putting his money behind Newt Gingrich. He is pumping millions into the campaign and is behind a 28 minute YouTube video slamming Romney. As of Monday, Gingrich endorsed television ads haven't shown up in Nevada.
George Harris is the co-national finance chair for the Gingrich campaign. He says since his win in South Carolina, momentum is building and Nevada is shaping up to be a key state.
"Nevada is going to be a player no matter what because the state's early, you say you have three different winners but you have two small winners, and you have a gigantic landslide," Harris said.
Romney's Nevada campaign remains focused on the issues and they are confident in a Silver State win. He did it once before in 2008.
"There's a reason why he performs well here. It's because he understands Nevada so well. He knows our issues, he spent time here and he's going to help us pull out of this economic downturn," said Ryan Erwin, Romney campaign senior advisor.
Recent polls shows Gingrich is in the mix for Nevada. Romney's camp says they know they are in for a battle.
"well we've never had a presidential nominee who wasn't an incumbent sweep through the process. We've always known this was going to be a long drawn out process," Erwin said.
8 News NOW reached out to Rick Santorium's campaign and Ron Paul's. We did not receive a response yet. Nevada's caucus is Feb. 4.
