NORTH LAS VEGAS, Nev. -- Sources have identified the teen gunned down in a North Las Vegas garage on Wednesday, and family friends are explaining details of the murder as police hunt for witnesses.
The victim is 18-year-old Frankie Wiest. Friends say he and the suspect, 33-year-old Mario Camacho, knew each other. Camacho has been arrested and charged with murder. He has also been charged with first degree kidnapping with a deadly weapon and a convicted felon in possession of a firearm.
Detectives say he shot two people in a garage near Tropical Parkway and Camino Eldorado on Wednesday. Wiest died and another person was injured.
"They kidnapped Frankie's ex-girlfriend and they took her there and they stripped her down -- made her break her phone so she couldn't call anybody," said a family friend. "Frankie dropped to his knees and he put his hands behind his head like this and he said, 'Please don't shoot me. God, please don't shoot me. Please help me,' and they shot him twice in the stomach."
The friend say Camacho is a member of a drug cartel who shot the boys over $70,000 he thought they had, all while forcing Frankie's ex-girlfriend to watch. Friends also say there was a second gunman.
Police have not confirmed this information, but they are still looking for witnesses and possible suspects.
