Wild horse advocates hope to put a small dent in a big problem this weekend when they make horses and burros available for adoption.

Currrently, there are more wild horses in government pens than still roam the open ranges of Nevada and other states.

The National Wild Horse Association, a non-profit based in Nevada, has spent months gentling seven wild horses and three burros, several of which were plucked from the Nevada desert in order to get them ready for a good home.

Molasses, a young filly, has come a long way since her gentling program began in August. Click here to see the 7 wild horses and 3 burros up for adoption.

Shari Warren, with the National Wild Horse Association, said, "The more time you put into them, the better an animal you're going to get because you're starting fresh and you're going to get that one-on-one bond with them. And we'll have horses of all different stages of gentleness. With her, I can touch her all over. I can pick up her feet and I can take her for a little walk."

The 17th Annual National Wild Horse Association Wild Horse & Burro Breed Show and our annual Adoption Event is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 20 and Sunday, Oct. 21 at Horseman's Park at 5800 East Flamingo, Las Vegas.

Bids on the horses start at $125.
